Oldenburg First Annual GOV Breeders Meeting
Poinciana Farm was pleased to host the First Annual GOV Breeders Meeting on Feb 18, 2023.
Bernhard Thoben, Breeding Director, from the German Oldenburg office along with Jens Richter with the North American Inspections were on hand to present a very informative day of hands on presentations and lectures. Joining the Oldenburg representatives were Dr. Erin Newkirk who gave a lecture on breeding performance mares via ICSI and Embryo Transfer and Annan Hepner, public relations professional, presenting on the topic of marketing. Joining the group from Ocala, Emil Spadone, highly experienced judge, breeder and trainer spoke to the group about breeding hunters for the North Amercian market.

Mock Mare Inspections - Six mares were presented to the group in hand. Bernhard Thoben described to the group the process of judging and evaluation with feedback from the audience.
Linear Profiling and Mare Scoring - A presentation by Bernhard Thoben with discussion amongst the group attending.
Breeding of the Performance Mare - Dr. Erin Newkirk
Hunter Breeding - Emil Spadone
Marketing - Annan Hepner
The day concluded with a lively gathering and more breeding conversation. A very productive day for breeders! We hope to host it again during next winter.
